Amar Dedic stopped by police after bizarre bow and arrows incident

Amar Dedic was reportedly stopped by police on Wednesday after being spotted carrying a bow and arrows near a reservoir in Northumberland.

Craig Hope reports in the Daily Mail that at least six police cars were involved after a member of the public raised the alarm about the Newcastle defender and a friend in the Harlow Hill area.

Marked and unmarked vehicles were sent out, with the report suggesting some were armed response units. Dedic and his companion were subsequently stopped around seven miles away in Darras Hall, where officers searched the car and seized the equipment.

As if that wasn't strange enough, Mark Gillespie and Paul Dummett are said to have arrived while police were speaking to Dedic. The pair were reportedly in the area by chance and stopped to offer assistance.

It's a bizarre turn of events that sounds like something Frank Chippa would come up with.

Police say there was no threat to the public

A Northumbria Police spokesperson told the Mail:

"Shortly after 1.55pm on Wednesday, we received a report of two men carrying a bow and arrows while walking along a track by the reservoir on Military Road in the Harlow Hill area.

"Officers attended and subsequently stopped a vehicle in the Darras Hall area and seized a bow and arrows. At this stage, it is understood they were for recreational use and there was no threat to the public. Enquiries are ongoing."

The Mail reports that Dedic will not face disciplinary action from Newcastle and is expected to be available for Saturday's trip to Fulham.

Hopefully the next bow and arrow we see comes from Harvey Barnes after he's banged one in to seal a comfortable win at Fulham.
