Newcastle offered £10.4m package for Joe Willock - Report
Joe Willock's future at Newcastle United remains up in the air as we head towards the final 10 days of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract on Tyneside, and has slipped even further down the midfield pecking order following moves for Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba.
Besiktas have been regularly linked with a move for the former Arsenal man, and reports in Turkey suggest they've finally made their move.
Besiktas make Willock bid?
Newcastle United have received an opening offer from Besiktas for Joe Willock, according to reports this morning.
In an exclusive for Turkish outlet Spor Depor, journalist Mustafa Karatas claims the Super Lig giants have submitted a bid worth €12m (£10.4m) for the midfielder.
He claims that the opening offer is €7m (£6.1m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in bonuses, meaning a £10.4m package once add-ons are factored in.
However, it sounds like Newcastle won't be accepting those terms, despite reducing their asking price slightly, if we're to believe these reports.
After earlier claims from Turkey suggested it would take €23m (£19.9m) to land Willock, it's thought Newcastle would be willing to deal at €20m (£17.3m), meaning Besiktas may have to fork out another £7m.
Time to compromise
Although Joe Willock is one of few current players able to play in that No.10 role, now feels like the right time for all parties regarding a sale.
It's our last chance to secure a good fee. In January, we'd be vulnerable to losing him on the cheap, if not on a free transfer in 12 months time.
But beyond that, he's slipped down the pecking order, has struggled badly with injury issues and is in need of a fresh start, knowing he still has plenty to offer at 26.
Hopefully, Bestikas can meet Newcastle in the middle and up their offer to something closer to £15m, presuming they really have launched a formal bid this morning.
