The SIX big clubs who could spoil Newcastle's Johan Manzambi dream

Newcastle United are currently thought to be leading the way in the race for Swiss star Johan Manzambi.

The 20-year-old has been turning heads at the World Cup with three goals and two assists in four appearances for Switzerland.

Newcastle are closing in on the signing of Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim, while talks are said to be ongoing with SC Freiburg over a move for Manzambi.

Following on from his stunning assist for Breel Embolo on Friday morning, however, the panic is starting to set in for Newcastle fans with the fear that the Magpies' move could be hijacked.

Newcastle have some serious competition for Johan Manzambi

Newcastle have already seen one player stolen from them this summer when Liverpool swiped Victor Munoz out of their grasp, so it's understandable that the Toon Army's nerves are jangling when it comes to Manzambi.

According to The Chronicle, there are at least six big sides tracking the £42m-rated midfielder. 

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen all hold a solid interest, while Arsenal and Chelsea have also tracked the star, and Napoli have scouted him in the last six months.

Mazambi is expected to be on the move this summer

Johan Manzambi is thought to be open to a move, and The Chronicle believes that Newcastle have already provided assurances that he would be an important first-team player, which is something those other clubs may not be able to promise.

Manzambi would be viewed as the replacement for Sandro Tonali, who is heading to Tottenham Hotspur in a £100m deal. 

Eddie Howe will have some solid options to partner Bruno Guimaraes with Lewis Miley, Joelinton and Jacob Ramsey all competing for a spot, hopefully with Manzambi.
