NUFC fan makes embarrassing Rafa Benitez accusations in shocking radio rant - Listen here

In an astonishing rant live on talkSPORT, a Newcastle United fan has called Rafa Benitez a 'fraud' - claiming he just said what supporters wanted to hear and ended up 'poisoning' the club.

Here's what Newcastle United fan 'Matt' had to say during his call in to talkSPORT Drive last night:

"I think Rafa Benitez has been frauding us Newcastle fans for the last two seasons,"

"I am totally on the flip side of everything that is going on. I think the fans should back the players, back Steve Bruce and I think Rafa ha been mugging us off for the last two seasons.

"He has played on the fans singing 'Rafa this, Rafa that', he would have left us at any time for a top six or a top European club.

"He had no intention of staying beyond three years at the club. He has had a microphone all season and he has just said what we wanted to hear.

"He has poisoned Newcastle against Newcastle."

Don't get me wrong, it is time we put Rafa Benitez in the past and focused on Steve Bruce (not that we don't have a right to be frustrated that he's Rafa's replacement!), but I couldn't disagree more with 99% of what this caller has had to say here.

There was times during Rafa's reign where some we didn't play the most attractive football, with some not liking his 'defensive' and pragmatic style, however it's quite extraordinary to suggest he was bad for the club and was never committed to the cause.

This is a man that agreed to swap the Bernabeu for Burton away following our relegation, a move that didn't see him stay for money, glory or fame but instead for the good of the club and us fans.

He had several chances to walk away, both from offers abroad or from the total lack of respect he was shown by Mike Ashley, yet he still saw out the remainder of his contract and always wanted to stay.

The Spaniard's move to China did surprise me, but there is only one man to blame for the situation we now find ourselves in - and his name is Mike Ashley.
