Callum Wilson could be offered Premier League lifeline after West Ham release
Former Newcastle United No. 9 Callum Wilson has found himself without a club after leaving West Ham United following their relegation to the Championship.
The 34-year-old was a popular figure on Tyneside with the fans and Eddie Howe alike.
Wilson spent five years at Newcastle and scored 49 goals in 130 games in all competitions. There's no doubt he'd have bagged many more if he had been able to stay fit for any length of time.
Despite his injury issues, West Ham were quick to pounce when he left Newcastle when his contract expired. He made 35 appearances for the Hammers, scoring seven goals.
Hull City could offer Callum Wilson a return to the Premier League
When West Ham were relegated, they made the decision not to offer Wilson a new deal, and now the former Bournemouth man needs to find a new club.
According to talkSPORT, Wilson could be handed an opportunity to spend another season in the top flight as newly-promoted Hull City look for an experienced marksman to help them navigate their return to the Premier League.
Hull are looking for experience to help them prepare for their return to the top tier of English football.
Wilson to Hull would be an excellent move for both parties
This would be an excellent move for the Tigers in our opinion. It's not all just about what Wilson can offer on the pitch, though; as long as he can keep fit, he will offer them plenty. It's about what he can do behind the scenes.
Wilson was an influential figure at Newcastle and was part of the leadership group set up by Eddie Howe. He wore the captain's armband a couple of times for Newcastle and was always hailed as a positive influence in the dressing room.
Callum Wilson has said he believes he's still got plenty to offer, and it looks like he might get the chance to prove it.
