"Not looking good" - Howe's injury update on 3 Newcastle players after Fulham win

It was a night of mixed emotions at St James' Park last night.

Mainly positive, as we got a late and deserved winner to move into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, but a concern to see two more injury concerns crop up.

Tino Livramento was forced off with a knee injury with just over 15 minutes to go, while Lewis Hall was absent from the squad due to a hamstring niggle.

Discussing those issues after the game, Howe admitted that it's "not looking good" on Tino based on his inability to play on and previous knee issues, although it sounds more promising on Hall, who "has a chance" of making Saturday's game against Chelsea:

“Tino’s injury is the big negative. We don’t know (how serious) but it’s not looking good. It looks like a knee problem, and Tino's had issues with knee injuries before.

"He had to come off, and he's such an honest, dependable lad. That sends worrying signs, really, for his participation maybe in the Chelsea game. Let's wait and see.

"Lewis, we're more positive on. He couldn't play today because of tightness in his hamstring. But he has a chance for Chelsea."

Howe also discussed Joelinton's fitness, explaining how the Brazilian's groin issue is holding him back at present.

Big Joe has been an unused substitute in our last two since picking up that groin problem at Bayer Leverkusen, with Howe revealing that he was only able to come on in an "emergency situation", casting doubt over his ability to start on Saturday:

“Joelinton is nursing a groin problem. He’s fit to a point, but it would only be in an emergency situation (we would use him). Defending a corner in the last few moments for example.

“He’s training but he’s maybe not executing everything normally.”

With Dan Burn out for six weeks, Sven Botman nursing a back issue, Nick Pope working his way back from a groin injury, Will Osula managing ankle pain and both Emil Krafth and Kieran Trippier out until January, we've picked possibly the worst possible time to have Hall and Tino carrying new knocks.

Miley may have filled in admirably last night, but it feels vital that we get good news on Tino over the next 24 hours and see Hall overcome this hamstring issue quickly.
