Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal? - Conflicting reports on the Newcastle’s captain

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has been linked with Arsenal in the last couple of days.

It's hardly a surprise. Bruno is always linked with a move away from St James' Park when a transfer window comes around, and it's usually a 'Big Six' side whose name is thrown into the mix.

Manchester City's name has been mentioned a few times, but now it's Arsenal's turn after reports suggesting that Bruno's representatives had spoken with Arsenal reps over a potential move.

While there appears to be some truth to this part, there are two stories around whether or not Newcastle have been approached about the possibility of selling the Brazilian.

Newcastle do not want to sell Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle are reportedly adamant that they will not entertain any bids for the club skipper, and that point is agreed on by every source, so there shouldn't be any real cause to panic.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Newcastle were approached by Arsenal, but The Telegraph is saying that nobody at the club has spoken to Arsenal about Bruno Guimaraes.

Still, the Mail has continued to push the narrative, insisting that Arsenal are ready to make another approach, whereas the Telegraph's Luke Edwards once again posted his article via social media that explains that there has been no direct contact.

Luke Edwards does concede, however, that there could be something going on behind the scenes that Bruno could be trying to engineer a move away and has his agents working on finding a new club. It's pure speculation at this point, but the possibility cannot be ruled out, especially after last year.

Let's remain calm - while we can!

This is more news that we could really do without at this point in the summer, but for now, we're going to stay relaxed on the idea that Bruno would leave.

As we've said before, Guimaraes absolutely loves it here; he adores the club, and in our eyes, he's doing this to try and get a new deal out of Newcastle. At least we hope so.

Additionally, these reports from the Mail aren't coming from Craig Hope, who is the man with all the contacts at the club. Hope is out in America covering the World Cup, so while he's away, we're not taking too much stock in whatever is run in his absence.

Not that we're saying that everything Craig Hope says is gospel, but we expect he would know more than Tom Collomosse, who is writing these reports, given that he is a Midlands-based reporter with no ties to Newcastle. That could just be us sipping on the copium, but we're going to continue to do so until we can no longer deny what's going on.
