"Nothing finalised" - Manager denies claim Newcastle have agreed to sign young star

Over the past week, we've seen strong links to a certain young winger who has been tipped to become Newcastle United's latest 'project signing' after Antonio Cordero's arrival from Spain.

That man is South Korean sensation Park Seung-Soo. Reports had suggested that Newcastle were 'set to sign' the forward, but it seems it's not quite a done deal yet.

Suwon Samsung Bluewings manager Byun Sung-Hwan has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works, confirming that while the Magpies are definitely keen on the talented 18-year-old forward, we haven't wrapped up a deal.

In fact, he's let slip that "several teams" are also sniffing around the teenage winger just days after links to Bayern Munich and Marseille:

“I don’t know either. If he goes, I wish I could go with him too (laughs)," quipped Sung-Hwan, who is clearly a big fan of Seung-Soo.

"From a coach’s standpoint, I haven’t received any official information from the club. It’s true that several teams are showing interest in Park Seung-soo. But unlike what’s being reported, nothing has been decided or set in motion yet.

"He’s definitely drawing attention, and the club is also thinking carefully about how well he can develop and adapt. I’m thinking about that too. As of now, the fact is that nothing has been finalised.”

He stressed that while Park is "definitely drawing attention," both the club and the gaffer are carefully considering his development and adaptation. So, for now, it's a case of watch this space – nothing has been finalised, it seems.

This move into the South Korean market is an interesting one for the Toon, with club scout Oliver Slater recently admitting it's a "new market" we haven't delved into much before.

Could Park Seung-soo be the first of many exciting talents from the region to don the black and white? We certainly hope so!
