Major update on Livramento and Schar injuries as return dates go public on Tuesday
Some news has arrived this afternoon on the injury front following major setbacks for Fabian Schar and Tino Livramento last week.
The Mail's Craig Hope was the first to break the news on Tino, revealing that the full-back is facing up to EIGHT weeks on the sidelines.
This has been backed up by Sky Sports' Keith Downie, who also has news of an eight-week timescale after Newcastle's worst fears were confirmed following yesterday's scan.
As for Schar, Downie adds that the Swiss defender is facing 'around three months' out with ankle ligament damage, meaning we may not see the 34-year-old in action again until mid to late April.
A brutal blow for Eddie Howe, with Tino's absence putting him at risk of missing 15 games over the next two months, with so many vital matches to come in the Premier League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League.
Downie states that Newcastle are now likely to become active in the transfer market following this double blow, with Malick Thiaw and Sven Botman our only fit centre-backs, and Lewis Hall and Kieran Trippier the only two left at full-back.
