Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento injury update ahead of Arsenal clash
Anthony Gordon was absent from the Newcastle United team sheet on Saturday as the Magpies crumbled to another defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.
While Eddie Howe was adamant that the winger missed the game through a hip injury, fans are reluctant to buy into that story.
Gordon's absence came after Howe had spoken about players who aren't committed to the club not getting in the team, which was a direct response to a question around Anthony Gordon.
It was made even more suspicious by the fact that Howe never mentioned that Gordon was carrying a knock, despite saying after the game on Saturday that he'd picked it up on Wednesday.
Anthony Gordon missed training on Tuesday
Craig Hope was watching training on Tuesday, where the Daily Mail journalist said Gordon did not take part.
This puts the England winger in serious doubt for Saturday's trip to Arsenal, although given the current mood towards the 25-year-old on Tyneside, that might be best for him anyway.
We'd like to think that the crowd would back him on the field, but if he were to make any kind of mistake, that could soon change. It could be a rough few weeks for Gordon with his future now in doubt.
Tino Livramento could miss the rest of the season
Meanwhile, Tino Livramento faces a race to be fit to play again this season after he pulled up with a groin issue during Saturday's game.
Livramento needs another scan to assess the full extent of the issue, with the Mail claiming that the best-case scenario is that he returns for the last couple of games of the season.
He will, however, likely be fit for the World Cup should Thomas Tuchel stick with him for the tournament. His form lately may have put his place in jeopardy.
Livramento's recent form and injury record this season may have given Arsenal and Manchester City second thoughts over a summer move, so it wouldn't be a huge shock if Tuchel has second thoughts too.
