Kevin Danois back on Newcastle's radar - Report
Newcastle United are still keeping tabs on Auxerre attacking midfielder Kevin Danois.
It was reported towards the back end of 2025 that Kevin Danois was a target for Newcastle United and there were rumours that the Magpies would make a move in the January transfer window.
Craig Hope had reported that Danois would be the option if Newcastle failed to land primary target Kees Smit, back when we actually thought we stood a chance of signing the young Dutchman.
January came and went with not a single signing having been made, but it seems that Newcastle haven't forgotten about Danois.
Newcastle still keen on Kevin Danois
The 21-year-old is thought to be a target for Newcastle in the summer, according to Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna.
He reports that Danois is likely to leave Auxerre in the summer, and the France Under-21 international is attracting interest from Germany and England.
Interestingly, it's noted that Newcastle are the Premier League side showing 'particular interest' in the midfielder, suggesting he very much remains on our radar after previous links in December and January.
He's also got admirers closer to home with Ligue 1 trio Lille, Rennes and Lyon all keen on the youngster.
Kevin Danois stats don't paint full picture
This season, Danois has made 31 appearances in Ligue 1 for Auxerre, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
Those numbers don't exactly scream 'sign him now', but Auxerre are hovering just above the relegation zone in Ligue 1 and have only scored 30 goals all season, so he's not exactly surrounded by greatness.
The fact that Newcastle are still keen after looking at him last year suggests that the scouts have seen enough to believe he could be a success in the Premier League.
At 21, he may need a season or two to fully adapt, but as long as he's given the time to do that, we don't see a problem.
Rumour Rating: 7/10 - We know there's an interest there, and it sounds like he's ready to leave Auxerre. Newcastle will face competition, however, and that's where the complication lies. Also, it depends on how much Auxerre demands for him and whether Newcastle will see it as good value.
