Newcastle could be quids in if they opt to sell Will Osula - Report
Newcastle United will have some big decisions to make this summer when it comes to who will stay and who will go.
The Magpies are looking to overhaul the squad ahead of next season, and it feels as though everyone is fair game if the price is right, albeit with a couple of exceptions like Bruno Guimaraes and, hopefully, Lewis Hall.
One player who almost left the club last summer but didn't is William Osula, who almost joined Eintracht Frankfurt late in the summer window before Newcastle pulled the plug on the deal.
Osula has gone on to enjoy his highest goal-scoring season for the Magpies, which was an admittedly low bar, but with five goals in his last six games, he's the in-form player in black and white.
Osula price tag on the rise
Eddie Howe has said that he's excited for Osula's future, which suggests he's expecting him to be at the club next season, but a report in the iPaper had added a smattering of doubt to that.
Osula still has his admirers with Aston Villa mentioned around the same time the move to Frankfurt fell apart, and now Everton are also thought to be keen on the former Sheffield United man.
The iPaper's report mentions how Osula's move to Frankfurt was set to secure the club around £30 million, but now they claim that Newcastle could demand DOUBLE that were they to sell Osula in the summer.
Sheffield United would be entitled to a percentage
Sheffield United inserted a sell-on clause when Osula made his switch, so they will no doubt be hoping that Everton or Villa cough up the dough, but we can't see either spending £60 million on him this year.
As much as we love Osula, we don't think he's worth £60 million as things stand. He's certainly added value this season, so we'd expect that if we were to sell, we'd be bringing in more than the £30 million we almost received last year, but we're still probably talking £45 million, max.
Ideally, though, we'd be keeping hold of Osula because there's still so much untapped potential there. If we are going to let a striker leave, it surely has to be Yoane Wissa. It's awful for him after he got his dream move, but he's just not done enough to convince anyone that it was a good move.
