Newcastle to launch £51m 'now or never' bid for Matias Fernandez-Pardo - Report

Newcastle United have reignited their interest in Matias Fernandez-Pardo; a player we revealed the club's admiration for in an NUFC Blog exclusive back in May

Yesterday, L'Equipe reported that we'd come forward with an initial £34.6m bid for the 21-year-old Belgian, although that was met with caution from Luke Edwards regarding our hopes of sealing a deal.

Today, it's claimed Newcastle have upped their offer considerably in hope of striking a deal with the Ligue 1 side, who we'll know well following previous negotiations to land Sven Botman, Mathieu Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye.

Final offer in for Fernandez-Pardo?

According to Sky's Belgium's Sacha Tavolieri, Newcastle will launch one last 'now or never' offer to Lille for Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

He reports that Newcastle's next proposal is set to be worth £51m (€60m) including bonuses, meaning a significant increase on yesterday's reported bid worth a £34.6m, if true.

This is thought to be the 'final offer' Newcastle will make in a bid to strike a deal with Lille, who have been reluctant to lose their star winger.

Belgian's versatility could be key

Newcastle need an injection of quality in the final third, with the squad currently light in wide areas, lacking a second striker or depth beyond natural No.9s Yoane Wissa and Will Osula, with Nick Woltemade's place in the side up for discussion.

This is where Fernandez-Pardo fits in superbly. The 6ft 2' Belgian can play in a central role, down the left or even on the right side, bringing that Anthony Gordon versatility to any side he'll join.

I imagine this is a huge selling point for Newcastle and Jaissle, and may be why the club are happy to make one last push for the talented attacker who ticks so many boxes.
