Three Newcastle games moved for TV broadcast ahead of 2026/27 season
Newcastle United have had three fixtures moved for TV ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Magpies are a regular feature on the TV schedules, and that looks set to continue in the new season too, despite the struggles of last season.
Newcastle's opening fixture against Liverpool was already one of the games picked for live broadcast and, as such, was moved to Sunday with a 4:30pm kick-off.
Now the TV rights holders have made their selections for the opening month of the campaign, and that has seen Newcastle's opening four games moved for TV.
Newcastle's opening four games will be shown live on TV
As confirmed via Newcastle's official website, the games against Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Leeds have all been moved.
The trip to Tottenham Hotspur will remain on Saturday 29 August but will now kick off at 5:30pm instead of 3pm, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
The home tie against Bournemouth will still take place on Saturday 5 September but will now kick off at 12:30pm as opposed to 3pm and will be shown on TNT Sports.
Newcastle's game against Leeds United at Elland Road has been moved from Saturday 12 September to Monday 14 September, at 8pm, to be broadcast on Sky Sports.
The website notes that if either Newcastle or Leeds is drawn against a side playing in the Champions League in the Carabao Cup third round, the game will revert to Saturday 12th September with a 12:30pm kick-off.
More TV appearances. More money.
While the chopping and changing of the fixture schedule is a pain, the fact that our first four games will be shown live bodes well for our slice of the TV revenue again next season.
We're glad that the game against Tottenham has been picked for live broadcast, although we aren't surprised. The matches between Newcastle and Spurs always have something exciting going on, but now there's the whole £100m man facing his old club subplot.
It's going to be interesting to see how the Newcastle fans react to Sandro Tonali during that game, although we imagine the real test will be his return to St James' Park.
