Newcastle set to confirm key appointment in fight against FFP restrictions - Report
According to The Mail's Craig Hope, Newcastle are set to announce the appointment of a chief commercial officer to 'grow commercial revenues' and aid our battle against FFP restrictions.
After spending around £210m in two transfer windows, the owners knew they would struggle to maintain that kind of investment in the future without increasing commercial revenue.
Hiring the right person for the job is absolutely key to the future of the club, but after the appointments of Dan Ashworth and Darren Eales, it's safe to say they know what they're doing.
We have already attained some new sponsors this season - the Middle Eastern company Noon which is worn on the sleeve of our shirts - but more will be needed to dramatically increase funds for new players.
While it may not sound like a big deal, in Mike Ashley's 14-year tenure as owner of the club, commercial revenue increased by just £300,000.
The club had been left to rot for well over a decade and now we are beginning to see how much of a force we could become with the right appointments, the right infrastructure and the right investment.
