5 changes Eddie Howe may be forced to consider ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Everton

With injuries and illness mounting up ahead of what promises to be a busy week for Newcastle United, Eddie Howe has a few big decisions to make ahead of Wednesday's clash with Everton

Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak will both be missing for 'a while' after injury setbacks, while the likes of Fabian Schar and Bruno Guimaraes were both forced off with knocks - if not exhaustion - towards the end of Sunday's 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.

So, how will Howe approach our midweek game, knowing we face a trip to Spurs just a few days later?

At the back, I think it's likely that Matt Targett replaces Dan Burn down the left, with the latter looking less than comfortable in that role for the second game running.

Fabian Schar seems to think he'll be OK for Everton, saying it was cramp and sheer tiredness that forced him off, but that in itself may leave Jamaal Lascelles knocking on the door.

In midfield, Joe Willock will be pushing for a start if he's over that period of illness that saw him benched on Sunday, while one of Ryan Fraser and Elliot Anderson could freshen things up in attack now Allan Saint-Maximin is unable to rotate with Jacob Murphy.

Up top, Callum Wilson would start every game if his body allowed him to, however he must be protected now Alexander Isak looks set to be missing until after the World Cup. Perhaps he'll be rested on Sunday instead, but the prospect of three games in a week for our injury prone number nine brings Chris Wood into contention for Wednesday's clash with Everton.

Personally, I'd just bring Wilson off after 70 minutes or so and manage his fitness that way, but Howe will have to be careful with a striker who hasn't long returned from a hamstring injury.
