Howe issues update on Tonali, Willock, Botman and Isak ahead of Borussia Dortmund clash
Eddie Howe has confirmed that Sandro Tonali is "fit and fine" ahead of tomorrow's clash with Borussia Dortmund, expecting the Italian to be available unless he's told otherwise ahead of kick-off.
Reports in Italy suggest a 10-month ban could be finalised in the next 24-48 hours following illegal gambling, but he's trained and is in contention to play; providing the suspension is not confirmed before 8pm tomorrow.
Elsewhere, Joe Willock is "getting closer", but Sven Botman is "still out". Willock was pictured training with the squad on Tuesday morning, however, the Dortmund game is expected to come too soon after five months out.
Howe also confirmed that Alexaner Isak is in a good place and "back to full fitness" following a groin injury, meaning he is likely to start against his former club. Here's what Howe had to say in today's St James' Park press conference at 4pm:
Howe on injuries and availability for Borussia Dortmund:
"Sandro is fit and fine. He's the same as before Palace. Willock's getting closer. Sven is still out. That's it.
Howe on Sandro Tonali:
"As far as I'm aware, I'm expecting him to be available tomorrow. I'll plan like that until told differently. He's trained today. I've heard very little because I've been preparing for the game. Obviously there are things going on?
"It was emotional at the end for him (after the Palace win on Saturday). That was clear to see. I think that will help him long-term. He got that support when he really needed it."
Howe on Alexander Isak:
"I'm really pleased with where he is at. Really pleased with the West Ham game, he was outstanding. He's back to full fitness after a groin problem.
"I'm sure he'll want to do well [against his old side]."
