TalkSPORT: Newcastle handed transfer boost as 'disrespected' winger sees talks stall

Newcastle United's hopes of signing a certain Premier League talent may have been handed a welcome boost this week.

We won't be bringing in previously linked Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, who has today signed a new improved four-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge, but Tyler Dibling's future Southampton is a very different story.

Newcastle handed Dibling boost

It's believed Dibling is stalling on a new contract at Southampton, who recently sacked their manager Russell Martin after Sunday's 5-0 defeat to Spurs left them in disarray following their promotion to the Premier League.

TalkSPORT have revealed that the exciting winger feels ‘disrespected’ by the way talks have been handled by the South Coast club, leaving him increasingly likely to leave in 2025.

On that note, the same report states that Newcastle and Man Utd are continuing to scout the teenage sensation, who is enjoying a breakthrough season at St. Mary's, appearing in 15 of their 16 Premier League games so far.

The right-winger had left the club once before to join Chelsea, who beat Newcastle to a deal at the time, but it was short lived and he made the return in September 2022.

A perfect fit for Eddie Howe?

Newcastle are on the hunt for value-for-money signings with big potential and Dibling fits the bill perfectly, providing any fee demanded by Southampton is reasonable.

He is young, energetic, English, a superb dribbler and may come at a reduced rate if Southampton fail to agree terms.

We have history with signing Southampton talents, striking a £32m deal to bring in Tino Livramento last August, and Dibling could be another superb addition if the price is right.

With PSV's Johan Bakayoko heavily linked and reports suggesting we may look for overseas talent in our search for a new right-winger, it'll be interesting to see if we shop closer to home or abroad as we bid to improve our problem position.
