Newcastle sanction three loans as teenager joins two former Mags and Kuol suffers blow
Newcastle United are preparing to send three youth talents out on loan in the closing weeks of the January transfer window.
The Under-21 side has picked up some good form under new boss Diarmuid O’Carroll and find themselves sixth in the Premier League 2. Several of the youngsters need game time at a senior level however - and they also want first team action in the men’s game.
Trevan Sanusi showcased against Bromley that those amongst the academy setup will be provided with opportunities if they perform at U21 level - but a trio of options are believed to be ready for a step to the professional game.
Toon trio set for loan moves
19-year-old Newcastle United centre-back Charlie McArthur has secured his first loan move away after impressing in the club's Academy.
The Scotland Under-19 captain has joined Mike Williamson's Carlisle until the end of the season and could even play alongside former Mag Paul Dummett after his free agent move to the League Two side last week.
Two more look set to follow, as The Chronicle report that loan boss Shola Ameobi is looking to finalise loan moves for a few more Under-21 talents in the final two weeks of the window.
Alex Murphy amassed a handful of Premier League minutes for the Magpies in dominant wins over Chelsea and Sheffield United in the 2023/24 campaign but, after not featuring for Eddie Howe since, is ready for the opportunity to impress at a senior level before returning in the summer.
Norwegian youth international Travis Hernes could also return to Scandinavia, with clubs in the Danish top flight taking a look at the Jamaica-born 19-year-old.
Aussie talent Garang Kuol is in desperate need of games, but ongoing injury issues could hamper a potential exit for the second window running after an issue over the summer impacted his loan hopes.

Miley returns, White extends stay
In further loan news: Jamie Miley has been recalled from his loan spell with Newport County and has returned to the club. The 21-year-old has been at the Welsh club since the summer and featured eight times in all competitions.
The older brother of Lewis, Jamie failed to set the world alight in the senior game with just three league starts with Newport and it’s unclear what the plan is for the midfielder at this point.
There is some certainty surrounding the near future for Joe White, who will remain on loan at MK Dons after his loan has been extended to the end of the season after impressing down south.
The 22-year-old has five goals from the midfield in League Two as he enters the next stage of his development. It might have come a little bit too late for his Newcastle career, but the good form shown at MK will be on the radar of suitors within the Football League and a permanent deal could be on the cards this summer.
