Newcastle chief now watching three Brentford stars?
Over the past fortnight, Newcastle United's head of recruitment Steve Nickson has been linked with scouting trips to watch Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and Sepp van den Berg.
However, reports now suggest a third Bees player is being tracked by our chief scout after recently being spotted at their 2-2 draw against Man City earlier this month.
This comes after a midweek trip to Anfield last week, where Craig Hope reports that Nickson was in the stands to watch Lille duo Jonathan David and Hakon Arnar Haraldsson.
Newcastle keeping tabs on £16m Brentford man
As revealed by The Mail's Craig Hope, Bryan Mbeumo is being watched along with versatile wide man Keane Lewis-Potter.
The West London club looks set to keep a hold of their star man this January, but with 18 months left on his current deal, a move in the summer for the Cameroonian a very real possibility.
As for Lewis-Potter, the 23-year-old has become a regular in Thomas Frank's side after his £16m transfer from Hull in 2022, when he initially struggled to work his way in the starting XI.
Lewis-Potter's versatility is a big attraction for any club - he can play as a left-back, wing-back or winger - but he has only just signed a new deal this month last until 2031, so it doesn't look like a move will be on the cards in the near future.
Where would he fit?
It's obvious where Mbeumo would come into our side should we make a summer move for the right-winger, but it's not so clear with Lewis-Potter.
At left-back we have Lewis Hall - soon to become an England regular on recent form - and we don't play with wing-backs in a five-man defence like Brentford.
As for the left wing, Anthony Gordon seems to have that spotted nailed down, with £38m signing Harvey Barnes waiting in reserve and unlikely to get many starts while our No.10 stays fit.
