Early 'leak' of Newcastle's shirt for 2025/26 season - First photos go public
Newcastle United’s home kit for 2025/26 has apparently leaked from a pretty reputable source.
‘Footyheadlines’ correctly predicted this season’s kits in advance of the official release by Adidas and have once again laid claim to what we can expect from the pending announcement.
If the leaked image this time round is to once again be accurate, it’s sure to split opinion within the fanbase, in a step away from conventional black-and-white stripes.
New photos of Newcastle shirt emerge
Newcastle’s traditional black-and-white stripes will be overlaid by a distracting plaid pattern in the 2025/26 season, if the leaked images doing the rounds on social media hold credence.
It is essentially an all white shirt with two black stripes on, nothing about the back of that kit at all represents the club or the city. In fact, it looks more like a Leeds kit from behind than anything else. See the images below:
From Footyheadlines: “The Adidas Newcastle United 25-26 home football shirt will feature a unique, classic design inspired by a shepherd's plaid to represent the club's black and white origin story.”
The predicted kit draws comparison to this season’s Juventus kit, but is less sleek than the Old Lady’s current attire. If we qualify for the Champions League this season you would hope for a kit on the big stage that represents Newcastle, and Newcastle alone.
Adidas will surely do better!
Adidas have released some belters this season, my personal favourite being the LFLSTR long sleeve, but (pardon the pun) you would hope our shirt manufacturers would have better designs up their sleeves for next season!
Even looking at the retro designs reimagined on our hoodies and jackets are a far better representation of our club than the rumoured kit leak, but some details seem to have some grounding.
Here are the three things that Footyheadlines report the brand with the three stripes will include next season: a long sleeve home kit, Adidas ‘Elite Team’ status and the Shepherd’s Check Design seen in the above prediction.
A long sleeve kit will be a welcome addition to collectors, while becoming an ‘Elite Team’ in the Adidas set-up will see us produce a third kit (rumoured to be an homage to the 1997 away kit) featuring the trefoil logo.
The capacity in which the shepherd’s plaid design will be utilised remains to be seen, but the tartan-esque stripes in the Footyheadlines prediction don’t do it for me.
