Bruno Guimarães breaks silence after Brazil were knocked out of World Cup
Brazil were sent home from the World Cup at the hands of Norway on Sunday.
Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães was right in the middle of things as he missed a first-half penalty that would have given Brazil the lead and likely changed the entire complexion of the game.
Norway had a plan and stuck to it. Absorbing Brazil's pressure and hitting the South American side on the break with Erling Haaland up top, they didn't really need many chances, just a couple of decent ones.
England will now face Norway in the quarter-finals after they successfully saw off the challenge of Mexico, while Bruno Guimarães will start making preparations to return to Newcastle.
Bruno is hurting after Brazil's World Cup exit
In the meantime, Bruno has finally broken his silence on Instagram, vowing to come back stronger after missing that crucial spot kick and being part of the Brazil side that went out in the Round of 16.
"I’ve written and deleted this so many times that I’ve lost count. I’ve always been here for the victories, so it’s only right that I introduce myself and don’t shy away from speaking to you in defeat. Football, which has given me everything I have, is now causing me the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my 28 years of life. Missing that penalty and being knocked out in the round of 16 is tough, it’s agonising, it hurts a lot, but it’ll be just another hurdle to overcome. I’ve been through so much that only I know… I’m certain that, however bad I’m feeling right now, it will all pass.
"The craziest thing of all was coming home after the saddest day of my life and the first thing my children said when I woke up was: ‘Daddy, shall we play football?’ And that’s when I realised that, regardless of whether the days are good or bad, football will always be my great love. I accept my responsibility, as I always have, and now is no time for things to be any different.
"I’m so sad about the way it ended, but I’m certain that God knows everything. I gave You glory in victory and I will give You glory in defeat. Thank You for the opportunity, Jesus. The dream isn’t over. It lives on in my heart and in the hearts of thousands who are passionate about our country. Now is the time to reflect, to regain my strength with my family, and to come back even stronger."

Can we get a new contract to help him heal?
Let's hope that while he's reflecting on things, he remembers how loved he is at Newcastle United and reaffirms his desire to remain as part of Eddie Howe's Black and White Army.
The talk about a potential exit isn't going away, and likely won't until a definitive statement is made. Whether that be from Bruno himself or whether it comes in the form of a new contract at Newcastle, either will do.
Hopefully it won't come in the form of a move to Arsenal, or indeed anywhere else.
Stay where you're adored, Bruno.
