Bruno Guimaraes issues statement after Newcastle 1-2 Bournemouth and injury hell
There weren't a lot of positives to take away from Newcastle United's 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, but the return of Bruno Guimaraes was one of them.
You could actually make a pretty strong case for that being the only positive from the game because the truth is, without Bruno, we wouldn't even have scored.
It was the Brazilian who forced the issue that led to William Osula's equalising goal, albeit rather fortuitously forcing Evanilson to play the through ball for the Dane to run onto.
After 10 weeks out with a hamstring injury and a bout of mumps, Guimaraes quickly ran out of steam during his 30-minute appearance, but he was still the brightest spot on a dark day.
Bruno speaks out
The skipper took to Instagram after the game to give a word of thanks to the fans for their support through 'one of the most difficult moments of my career'.
He also touched on the current state of affairs on the pitch, proclaiming his sadness at the current run of results.
"So many emotions right now! I’m happy to be back after almost 10 weeks. I want to thank everyone who was part of my recovery, without exception. I went through one of the most difficult moments of my career, but by the grace of God, I’m back and ready to go again.
"I’m sad about the moment we are currently going through at the club. I think that, for the first time in almost five years that we’ve been together, this has been the toughest period. The only way to get through a moment like this is to keep quiet and work even harder.
"I want to thank everyone for the messages of support during these 10 weeks. Without a doubt, your encouragement was essential in giving me the strength to recover as quickly as possible 🖤🤍3️⃣9️⃣"

Is next week's game a write-off already?
Hopefully, another week on the training pitch will be enough to get his fitness up another few levels, because we need our captain now more than ever.
Newcastle take on Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday, and many Toon fans have already written that game off. There are zero expectations going into that game after the last few results, and honestly, we can't blame people for that level of negativity.
However, if Bruno can start that game, he gives us a sliver of hope. Like a hair's breadth, but just enough for some light to peek through. We'll take what we can get, though.
