Howe out vs Howe in? - 2,500 Newcastle fans vote in end of season poll
Eddie Howe has divided the fanbase this season, with some fans standing by the man who brought silverware back to the club, while others feel it's time for him to go.
It has been a difficult season for everyone connected to Newcastle United this season. The football hasn't been good to watch, and the results that followed have been just as bad.
For some, all of the blame lies at the feet of Eddie Howe, while others feel there's a lot more going on that, while still the fault of Howe on some level, needed a collective effort (or non-effort as the case may be) to get us to this point.
The pathetic showing at Fulham was the final nail in the coffin for a lot of fans, but the discontented masses always have the loudest voice, so what's the reality?
Toon Polls has asked the big question
All season, through all of the Howe Out online protests, journalists have insisted that the majority of fans still back Eddie Howe, pointing towards the constant chanting of his name inside St James' Park.
Well-known Newcastle United X account, Toon Polls, has succumbed to peer pressure and published a poll simply asking Howe In or Howe Out?
Over 2500 people responded, and the majority have opted for Howe Out. 64.3% of respondents said they wanted a change of manager, with 35.7% keen to see Eddie keep his job.
Replies to the post are mostly from those who voted out, with some expressing regret and having voted that way, pointing at the Carabao Cup win as one of their greatest days, but they feel that Howe has taken us as far as he can.
I'm still Howe In...Just
We're quite shocked at how one-sided the results were. To be honest, we thought they'd be much closer. 2500 people isn't a small sample size either. It may not reflect the fanbase as a whole, but that's a good chunk to draw a reasonable conclusion.
It's not swaying us, though. We're still Howe In, although he's on his last life with us now. It's absolutely make-or-break next season. He's been absolutely fantastic for us, and he's done a great job despite a lot of disruption behind the scenes.
Regardless of what the fans think, the club is ready to give him more time, so even if you're 100% Howe Out, he's still going to be our manager next season. At least at the start of the campaign, anyway.
