'I've got no worries' - Dion Dublin gives immediate backing to Eddie Howe after Bournemouth defeat
The pressure continues to mount on Eddie Howe, and speculation over his Newcastle United future continues to go wild.
Saturday brought about another defeat at home, another late goal and another failure to beat his old club in another tough afternoon for the beleaguered Toon boss.
On Friday morning, Eddie Howe faced a barrage of questions about his Newcastle future, with journalists point-blank asking if he's still got the fire in him to do the job.
The gaffer was in a defiant mood on Friday, insisting he was still the right man for the job, but that fire he was so proud of on Friday didn't seem as strong at 5pm on Saturday.
Dion Dublin still backs Howe
After another defeat, the attention quickly turned to Howe's future, but BBC Final Score's Dion Dublin put a metaphorical arm around the Newcastle manager and claimed he's not worried for his job just yet, but admitted that people are not happy.
"I think they hit such high heights very, very quickly in his tenure, where everybody's expecting them to stay there. With the amount of injuries and stuff that he's had with this squad, it was never going to happen.
"It's down to him now to make sure that he gets them back to the levels that he's set them, and the players have got to be proud as well because he knows they're playing bad, he knows that we are disappointed with them. The Newcastle fans are not happy as well.
"I've got no worries with Eddie at all. Be careful what you wish for."
The unofficial Eddie Howe motto
Be careful what you wish for is becoming somewhat of a motto for pundits and journalists when discussing Eddie Howe, but it's a cliche for a reason.
While we are still backing Eddie Howe, we're not completely blind to the issues. Changes are needed, but as John Anderson pointed out last week, that can come in the form of bringing in new coaches with fresh ideas.
Eddie Howe speaks about being open to new ideas, but he needs to start proving that. He needs to change things up on the pitch. He can talk about how each game plan is different all he likes, but when the formation is exactly the same, the instructions don't matter as much; it's too easy to fall into predictable patterns.
Let's get the rest of this disastrous season out of the way, and hopefully, there'll be plenty of work done over the summer to freshen things up.
