Newcastle land £10m boost as new commercial partner is secured - Report
One of Newcastle United's biggest aims over the next few years, away from the pitch, is to close the revenue gap between themselves and the 'Big Six'.
Since the 2021 takeover, Newcastle's revenues have grown year on year, and the club continues to strive to find lucrative partnerships.
The club recently announced a partnership with South African energy drinks company KNOX Hydradtion who will put their name on the training ground.
With Sela's front-of-shirt-sponsorship deal up at the end of this season, the search is also on for a new deal for that lucrative position.
As representatives from the PIF and key figures from the Newcastle United boardroom meet at Matfen Hall to discuss any number of topics, the Daily Mail has reported news of a new deal that has been brokered this week.
Newcastle have struck a deal with Sodexo
Much of Craig Hope's Newcastle Confidential column this week is speculation about what is likely to be discussed up at Matfen Hall, but he was able to provide some actual news.
Newcastle United has struck a £10m deal with French food giant, Sodexo.
"A new long-term deal for the provision of food and drink at St James’ Park has been agreed, in what will be a boost to the club’s revenue streams.
"This agreement was brokered between Hopkinson and Sodexo CEO Thierry Delaporte, who won the account after beating competition from three other global bidders.
"The partnership will see St James’ positioned as Sodexo’s ‘Global Showcase Account’, with the French company deploying their latest technology and enhanced offerings to elevate the guest experience inside the stadium."
Mes oui!
So next season, when you go to St James' Park, you can expect crepes, baguettes and champagne instead of pie, chips and a pint.
In all seriousness, it's another step in the right direction for the club, although the worry is that if this deal is designed to bring in premium produce, does that mean the prices are set to go up for the average punter yet again, or is it more for the prawn sandwich brigade?
Keep these big deals coming, and keep the fans out of it. They pay enough into the club, that's what these partnerships are for, to find the money from elsewhere.
