Newcastle star Dan Burn calls on England to replicate Argentina at World Cup

England once again goes into a World Cup carrying the tag as one of the favourites, although if you asked most fans, they'd probably disagree with that tag.

While I was never a fan of watching England under Gareth Southgate, I always had confidence that the Three Lions would do well in tournaments while boring me to tears.

This one is a big unknown as we've not seen Thomas Tuchel's side in any real competitive action, nor do we really have any idea what his team is going to look like.

England has the players to be a force at the tournament - and plenty of players who didn't even make it to the USA who could have made a huge contribution.

Dan Burn demands strong team spirit

You can have all the individual talent in the world, though, but that doesn't guarantee success, and that's why Newcastle defender Dan Burn has spoken about the need for a strong team spirit, as reported by The Northern Echo.

“Obviously it’s hard for me to comment on what went on when I wasn’t here,” said Blyth-born Burn, who was a key part of Newcastle United's first-choice defence last season.

“But we’ve made a big thing about that since the very first camp we had together, about having this brotherhood and being together.

“I feel like a lot of the time the team that end up winning tournaments like these are the teams who are close.

“If you look at Argentina at the last World Cup, you felt as if they were really fighting for each other.

“That’s what we’re wanting to do. I think it’s hard sometimes, you don’t see each other for a long amount of time and you have quite superficial conversations.

“It’s normally just like, ‘Hi, how are you?’. But it’s about trying to get to know each other on a deeper level.”

Howay Big Dan Burn!

Burn made his England debut under Thomas Tuchel at the age of 32 and appears to be a favourite of the German. However, whether that means he'll get many minutes remains to be seen.

We expect that Burn is there mostly for his leadership abilities and his personality. He'll get game time but more likely as a substitute than a starter.

We hope to see him in action, though; it would make for one hell of a story if England manages to go all the way with the boy from Blyth
