Sandro Tonali could leave Newcastle if 'astronomical' offer arrives - Report
Sandro Tonali is going to be a player whose name we'll see a lot of over the summer as the Newcastle United rumour mill grinds away.
It already kicked off just hours after the curtain came down on the 2025/26 season, with reports claiming Arsenal were in talks with the Italian, which came after a similar report linking him with Manchester United.
The reports originated in Italy, though, so not a lot of notice was taken of them. Indeed, it didn't take long before Lee Ryder of The Chronicle had fact-checked the claims and found them to be false.
Sandro Tonali is a player who is going to garner interest, though, so Newcastle fans will have to be ready to see plenty of reports linking him with an exit, although it is feeling like he's more likely to stay on Tyneside.
Newcastle is reluctant to part with Sandro Tonali
As much as it feels like Tonali's agent is desperate to find his client a new club, Newcastle have made it very clear that any players leaving the club this summer will have to do so on 'our terms' as stated by David Hopkinson in his interview with talkSPORT.
Anthony Gordon's exit is being held up because Bayern Munich are refusing to meet Newcastle's demands. The club is standing firm on its valuation, and that's now allowed Barcelona to nudge its way to the front of the queue.
The Chronicle believes that, because of SCR restrictions and the lack of European football, Newcastle may be forced to sell players it otherwise may not have wanted to; however, it won't force them to sell on the cheap, and it would take an 'astronomical bid' to tempt them into offloading Tonali.
The Blog office remains divided on the Tonali issue
Even the biggest Sandro Tonali apologist (me) will admit that the Italian hasn't had the greatest season in the black and white, and we should be seeing more from him, but we've seen what he's capable of and know what he can deliver.
He is just one of many players who were well below their known standards for Newcastle during the last campaign, who we expect to have a much better season next time around.
The Blog office is still divided on Tonali, though, so while I am personally pleased it's looking like he's staying, there are those at Blog HQ who have their fingers crossed for this 'astronomical bid' to materialise.
