Who Newcastle stars face in the World Cup knockout rounds - Ties to watch, dates and times

We're getting into the business end of the World Cup now as the group stages are all over and done with. Every one of Newcastle United's World Cup stars remains in the tournament, so what's next for our lads?

Newcastle has six players at the World Cup - we started with eight, but Anthony Gordon moved to Barcelona before the tournament started and Tino Livramento picked up an injury that saw him replaced in the England squad by Trevoh Chalobah.

Dan Burn is still there representing the Toon for England, although the Blyth-born defender has yet to get onto the pitch.

Bruno Giumarães, Yoane Wissa and Anthony Elanga are all starring for Brazil, DR Congo and Sweden respectively, while Malick Thiaw has made one substitute appearance for Germany, which is still more than Nick Woltemade has managed.

Bruno Guimarães gets us underway at 6pm tonight

With all of those sides through to the knockout stages, this is when you can see our boys in action, and you won't have to wait long to see the first one.

Bruno Guimarães gets us underway at 6pm today as Brazil takes on Japan in what should be a good game of attacking football.

Could Dan Burn face off against Yoane Wissa?

Germany is up later at 9:30pm tonight. They will be looking to bounce back after a shock defeat to Ecuador in the group stages. We wonder if we'll finally get to see Nick Woltemade in action this time, or if he will remain on the bench once again.

Anthony Elanga will have to be on absolute top form on Tuesday at 10pm with Sweden taking on France, who took apart Norway 4-1 in their final group game, albeit a Norway side with several stars rested.

If Dan Burn gets his first taste of World Cup action on Wednesday, he will come up against his teammate Yoane Wissa with England taking on DR Congo at 5pm.

We're not convinced Big Dan Burn will get any time on the pitch at this tournament, unless England manage to race into a big lead against DR Congo and Tuchel opts to rest some players and give those on the fringes a chance.
