Steve Bruce reveals what Saudi owners have done "remarkably well" and reacts to top-four push

Former Toon boss Steve Bruce is 'pleased' to see Newcastle excelling this season, believing the city and club 'needed' success after a 'difficult time' under Mike Ashley.

He’s also praised the running of the club since new owners arrived, believing they’ve done 'remarkably well' in hiring the right people behind the scenes and have ‘bought well’ in the transfer market.

As stated by the 62-year-old, we have gone from 'strength to strength' since the Saudi-backed takeover was confirmed, seeing us go from relegation contenders to challenging for a Champions League spot in just over 18 months.

Howe's Mags are just a couple of victories away from securing a top four finish and have transformed into a completely different club since the departures of Bruce and Ashley.

When asked about his time at the club and the success we've had over the past 12 months, Bruce had this to say on the Official Manchester United Podcast:

“I always knew that it was going to be difficult, but I was determined to take the chance. I knew all along it was going to be difficult, and it certainly was.

"When I see where the club is now, and the quality of players that are playing...where they've done remarkably well is that they've put people in place to run the club, and bought well.

"It’s gone from strength to strength in the last 12 months. I’m pleased. I genuinely am pleased, because the city needs that, as a club it probably needs that, but it was a difficult time, that’s for sure."
