Newcastle finally set to benefit from PSR as major update arrives on Alexander Isak
The ongoing FFP and PSR restrictions that have hampered Newcastle United's growth over the last few years has led to frustrations for the PIF-backed project.
It's become so tedious to see the financial rules limit our spending power - but it looks like the tables may turn in our favour when it comes to one deal in particular.
Newcastle hopes for a "new era" of spending in 2025. However, there's one club eyeing Alexander Isak who looks set to be disappointed, to our delight!
Arsenal priced out of Isak move?
According to an exclusive from The Mail's Craig Hope, Arsenal will NOT be able to afford a mega-money move for Alexander Isak this summer.
After heavy talks peddled by the media and desperate Arsenal fans online about a move for the Swedish superstar, it's a relief and quite amusing that money will (for once) stop one of our 'big six' rivals from strengthening at our expense.
Hope reports that it is ‘extremely unlikely’ that Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke sanctions a move for Isak, with the focus on outgoings as they deal with PSR issues of their own - though if the Gunners have a major exit of their own then the landscape could change.
Their current plans of selling Gabriel Jesus, Thomas Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko are unlikely to be enough by themselves to accrue enough, however, with Isak bound to cost a British-record fee well in excess of the £115m Chelsea paid for Moises Caicedo.
Newcastle could end debate with top-four finish
A player of Isak’s class will soon demand Champions League football. That has to be our aim if Eddie Howe wants to keep his star men on Tyneside - Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman included.
A spot in Europe’s premier competition will soon be required to keep Isak happy and would in turn hopefully change our stance with a view to upgrading his contract.
Though currently one of our top earners, he may be open to an extension beyond 2028 if we sealed a place in the Champions League and showed signs of kicking on to the next level, both on and off the pitch.
Isak is irreplaceable and crucial to our future. Every effort must be made to accommodate his needs as the project continues to look forward.
