Howe reveals two new injuries and hails Osula and Miley after Bromley win

Eddie Howe has issued an injury update and discussed our two standout players from Sunday's 3-1 win over Bromley in the FA Cup.

After an early goal from the visitors, we responded quickly and ran out comfortable winners in the end thanks to a 25-yard screamer from Lewis Miley, an Anthony Gordon penalty and left-footed rocket from Will Osula.

Here's what the boss has had to say after the match, starting with a slightly concerning fitness update.

Howe reacts to Bromley win

Speaking to the BBC after the win, Howe revealed two fresh injury niggles and explained his half-time changes, with Harvey Barnes forced off and Joe Willock missing from the squad altogether.

Discussing both issue, he said: "Anthony [Gordon] was forced. Harvey [Barnes] felt something in his quad. The plan was always to play Joe [Joelinton] and Bruno [Guimaraes] for 45 each."

"Joe (Willock) just felt something in training yesterday. I think it is a muscular problem, I don’t think it’s serious but it was enough for us not to take the risk with him."

Elsewhere, Howe confirmed that Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Jacob Murphy were all rested after picking up slight niggles in our 2-0 win at Arsenal on Tuesday.

Big praise for Miley and Osula

Lewis Miley and Will Osula were the two big positives from the win, with the pair scoring two stunning goals to help us over the line.

On Miley's goal and overall performance, Howe said: "What a brilliant finish from Lewis Miley. From that moment we settled into the game. Lewis [Miley] played very well. He brings loads of composure and quality on the ball."

“The onus was on him as the six to start a lot of our attacks, and I thought he kept his composure, as he always does. He picked a lot of nice passes. There'll be an element of frustration in him because he'll want to play more. But he won't do himself any harm by how he performed today."

The boss also spoke highly of Osula, believing he showed his "huge potential" with that superb second half strike: "He's been waiting for that moment. He's been training hard.

"He has huge potential and quality. I haven't seen him score many like that. I'm delighted for him. That will do him the world of good."

Howe then discussed our poor start to the match that saw Bromley take an early lead, feeling it was vital we found a quick reply through Miley's moment of quality:

"It's a moment you never like [going behind]. You prepare for a lot of eventualities in your mind before the game and respect every opponent. It can happen. It did happen. It was important we responded. The longer it goes on the more anxiety can creep in."
