Anthony Gordon wanted by THREE clubs - Fabrizio Romano
Newcastle United look almost 100% certain to sell Anthony Gordon this summer.
The England winger has had to watch from the bench as the season wound down, with Eddie Howe not interested in using players who don't want to be at the club.
After the win over West Ham, Anthony Gordon cut a lonely figure in the centre circle before being pushed to join the rest of the team in the lap of honour.
Considering how much Anthony Gordon won us over when he arrived at the club, it didn't take him long to completely erode all of that goodwill, and now you'd be hard-pressed to find a Newcastle fan who wants him to stay.
Barcelona and Arsenal still want Anthony Gordon
Bayern Munich have long been the favourites for his signature, but a £15 million disparity between Newcastle's valuation and Bayern's is a big problem.
Fabrizio Romano has said on his YouTube channel that Gordon does have other options, namely Barcelona and Arsenal, although price could be a big issue for the Spanish giants too.
"Anthony Gordon is an option for three clubs. One is Barcelona, because they like him but he's very expensive.
"Another is Bayern, there's already been contact with Newcastle but they believe he's very expensive, so they have alternatives.
"And he's always been appreciated by people at Arsenal."
Hopkinson has made it hard for Newcastle to sell
We've said it before, and we'll say it again: David Hopkinson has painted the club into a corner with his statement about any sales being on our terms. It's a hardline stance that we agreed with in principle, and means we can't now be seen to back down from our valuation of players.
If we cave in to Bayern's demands, it opens the door for any club to come and try to shave millions off the valuations of any other players we are looking to sell. On the flip side, if we don't negotiate, we could be stuck with Anthony Gordon when he clearly doesn't want to be here, and we're back where we were last year with Alexander Isak.
Hopefully, it's all resolved quickly, and more importantly, Gordon heads overseas so he's not haunting us in the Premier League.
