BBC post PSG meme that has Newcastle fans feeling smug as another one bites the dust
Paris Saint-Germain put Liverpool to the sword again in the Champions League last night, registering another 2-0 win to advance to the semi-final with an aggregate score of 4-0.
The current champions are marching their way to the final once again, and they don't take any prisoners along their way, especially from the Premier League.
Well, that's almost true, anyway, as there's one Premier League side they can't seem to beat ... lowly old Newcastle United.
In fact, if it weren't for some truly disgusting refereeing decisions, the French giants would have a dismal record against the Magpies, but Eddie Howe's last-minute Mags have given PSG a couple of lifelines.
Luis Enrique doesn't eat Newcastle cereal!
Following Liverpool's latest defeat, @BBCMOTD posted a meme on social media on Wednesday morning, which is pretty amusing to be honest.
It shows PSG manager Luis Enrique tucking into a bowl of Unlucky Charms, and on his spoon are the cereal balls showing the crests of their fallen Premier League foes - Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool (twice). But there's no Newcastle United ball to be seen.
The Magpies have faced PSG three times in two Champions League campaigns and are undefeated. Two draws, thanks to late, late goals and dodgy decisions, accompany the small matter of a jolly good 4-1 hiding at St James' Park.
Hugo Ekitike will miss the World Cup
As well as feeling smug about not being included on the BBC's meme, Newcastle fans are enjoying a bit of schadenfreude this morning too as it has been announced that Hugo Ekitike, who twice turned down a move to St James' Park, will be out for the rest of the year after picking up a ruptured Achilles in the game last night, as reported by the Daily Mail.
It happened on the same night Alexander Isak made a starting return to Liverpool's team following his broken leg after leaving Newcastle for £125 million.
It's probably safe to say that Toon fans will be feeling very little empathy for Liverpool fans right now. While we don't like to revel in the injuries of players, no matter how loathsome they may be, it's hard not to give it the old Thierry Henry smirk today.
