Jarrod Bowen plan revealed by West Ham chief amid Newcastle interest
Jarrod Bowen's link to Newcastle United is one that never seems to go away.
As every transfer window comes around, the West Ham United winger is linked with a move to Newcastle, but it never gets beyond the rumour stage.
It's believed that Eddie Howe is a big fan of the 29-year-old, and that seems to be enough to keep the rumour alive despite common sense and history suggesting that the move is highly unlikely to happen.
We have no doubt that Jarrod Bowen is a great player and one that we'd love to have at Newcastle, but there is so much going against the move now that it's not likely to ever happen.
West Ham co-owner Daniel Kretinsky insists they don't need to sell players
West Ham's relegation from the Premier League gave other clubs hope that they could pick up the England international as the Hammers would be looking to sell off prize assets.
However, West Ham co-owner Daniel Kretinsky has told The Times that is not the case, insisting they do NOT have to sell.
"We have a very credible strategy. We don't need to sell the players for financial reasons.
"We are doing this to make sure we are promoted back to the Premier League immediately. That is our only goal.
"Key players are waiting for us. They want to see there is a real chance of keeping the squad together.
"What matters is funding, strategy and consistency. We have spoken to all of them. They need to see that our project is real and serious. Promotion is our only goal."
Bowen is likely to stay at West Ham
When West Ham's relegation was confirmed, it was widely reported that Bowen would stick with them to help get them back to the Premier League, and if what Kretinsky says is true, then the club won't feel the need to accept any offers.
We don't expect Newcastle will make any moves for Bowen, though. At 29, we don't see Ross Wilson being on the same page as Howe with this one, especially not for the price that Bowen is likely to fetch.
If only we could have sealed that move when he was on his way from Hull City, or at least moved to get him away from West Ham years ago when he was a few years younger.
We'd still take him, but the price would have to be right. No more spending small fortunes on ageing players after last summer's huge mistake with Yoane Wissa!
