Jarrod Bowen urged to make 'logical move' to Newcastle United
Newcastle United practically sealed West Ham's relegation from the Premier League with a 3-1 win at St James' Park on Sunday.
The Hammers could still survive, but it depends very much on what Tottenham Hotspur do at Chelsea tonight. Should Spurs lose, it will come down to the final game of the season, with the gap currently two points.
Some Newcastle fans would have taken a defeat on Sunday to keep the Hammers' hopes of survival alive at the expense of Tottenham: a 'big six' rival who lobbied against our takeover back in 2021.
However, should West Ham drop to the Championship, the Magpies have been linked with a summer move for Jarrod Bowen, with Eddie Howe thought to be a big fan.
Bowen should move to Newcastle - Darren Bent
Newcastle have long been admirers of West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen, and the former Hull City man was even on his way up the A1 to sign for Newcastle before he joined the Hammers.
With the Irons now on the brink of relegation and Bowen's future a big talking point, former Sunderland striker Darren Bent has told talkSPORT that the most logical move for Bowen would be Newcastle.
"For me, the logical move for Jarrod Bowen, if he was to leave West Ham and stay in the Premier League, would be Newcastle.
"I think you've got to stay in the Premier League as long as possible.
"I remember when I dropped out of the Premier League, I thought I'd come back and I never did. I was desperate to come back."
It's probably too late for Bowen and Newcastle
We are big admirers of Jarrod Bowen and would have loved to see him in black and white, but has that window of opportunity passed?
Bowen turns 30 this year, which doesn't exactly fit in with Ross Wilson's remit of lowering the age of the squad. There's no doubt that he's still got what it takes to perform at the highest level, but we still think Newcastle will pass, especially if the fee remains high.
There's a chance that Jacob Murphy could leave Newcastle in the summer, though, and even though it's only a 20-month difference, losing Murphy and bringing in Bowen would still technically be lowering the average age, so if Eddie Howe was able to convince Ross Wilson of this, there's an outside chance.
Bowen seems like the type of man who might just stick with the Hammers in the Championship, although he will have no shortage of Premier League offers should they suffer relegation.
