Newcastle back in for Jarrod Bowen as Anthony Gordon heads for exit - Report
Newcastle United's 2025/26 season is almost over, but while the football may stop for a short period of time, the transfer rumours will only ramp up.
Over the last week alone, we've already been linked with AS Monaco's Lamine Camara, Gremio's teenage sensation Gabriel Mec, and German goalkeeper Mio Backhaus.
The rumour mill will go into overdrive soon, with Newcastle facing what will hopefully be a summer of change as we look to shake up a squad that has massively underachieved this season.
Wingers will be a big talking point once again, and a familiar name - West Ham's Jarrod Bowen - has been tipped to arrive on Tyneside.
Bowen back on Newcastle's radar?
According to The Mail, Newcastle could be in a three-club battle for Jarrod Bowen this summer, regardless of West Ham's Premier League status.
The report states that Liverpool is a strong contender as they look for a Mo Salah replacement, with Newcastle also in the mix and searching for another quality wide option now Anthony Gordon appears destined to leave.
Everton's David Moyes is also a big admirer, having signed Bowen for West Ham back in 20202, where he left Hull City in a deal worth £22m.
The Mail believe that Bowen, now 29, will be available for less than £60m this summer, whether the Hammers beat the drop or suffer relegation to the Championship.
Good player, wrong time
As wingers go, Bowen's recent record is as Premier League proven as they come, scoring 37 goals over the last three seasons for a poor West Ham side.
He'd be a huge upgrade on Anthony Elanga and Jacob Murphy, but there are a few holes in this story, even if Howe is bound to be an admirer.
Firstly, everything we are hearing and reading suggests Newcastle will move away from the 'Premier League proven' transfer strategy this summer, especially when it comes to those nearing their 30s.
Secondly, I can't see us spending £50m-plus on a right winger when a new LEFT winger will surely be the priority if and when Gordon leaves.
Bowen would be a strong signing that guarantees us goals and assists next season, we just can't see it happening and expect Ross Wilson to push for younger European gems instead.
