Jeremy Monga on Newcastle's radar after Leicester disaster - Report
Wingers could be the talk of Tyneside this summer, much like strikers were 12 months ago during the Alexander Isak saga.
Not only do we have the very likely prospect of Anthony Gordon leaving, requiring a quality replacement to arrive, but there are huge question marks surrounding our right side after Anthony Elanga and Jacob Murphy have delivered a combined three league goals all season.
We've seen potential targets down either flank linked in recent days, whether it's West Ham's Jarrod Bowen (RW) or Real Betis' Abde Ezzalzouli, and another wide man has now been thrown into the mix, albeit a very different profile.
Newcastle eyeing relegated Monga?
Newcastle are showing interest in Leicester City's teenage sensation Jeremy Monga, according to talkSPORT.
It's been a disastrous two years for the Foxes, who have suffered back-to-back relegations, but Monga has been one of the shining lights and could be available for a bargain fee this summer.
TalkSPORT report that Newcastle have joined Man Utd, Arsenal and Leeds in the hunt for the 16-year-old winger, who also has interest from Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Roma.
Monga made 27 appearances in the Championship last season, managing a goal and two assists in 921 minutes of action, and plays in the same England Under-19 side as Newcastle talent Leo Shahar.
A project signing, not Gordon's replacement
It goes without saying, but any move for Monga would be with the future in mind, investing in his potential, not expecting him to step into Anthony Gordon's boot anytime soon.
Should he become available at a cut-price fee, he could be an English talent well worth investing in, with the Coventry-born winger considered one of the best 16-year-olds in England, highlighted by regular Championship minutes at such a young age.
A potential no-brainer if the price is right and we see an eventual pathway to Eddie Howe's first team for the talented youngster, although it sounds like he'll have plenty of offers. Maybe Jamaal Lascelles can put in a good word.
