Sandro Tonali next on Man City's list after securing Elliot Anderson signing - Report

Manchester City seem to be determined to give Enzo Maresca all the tools he needs to succeed after taking over from Pep Guardiola.

Maresca left Chelsea last season after being courted to succeed Pep at the Etihad, and now that his former understudy has officially taken the job, it seems the club is determined to make sure he gets what he wants.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson has just sealed a move to City from Nottingham Forest for around £116 million, but they may not be done recruiting for the middle of the park.

Replacing Kevin De Bruyne hasn't been easy, and Rodri is set to undergo surgery and could miss a chunk of next season.

Man City are ready to go big to land Sandro Tonali

According to Spanish outlet Marca, now that the Anderson deal is sewn up, Man City will turn their attention to Sandro Tonali.

Man City have always been lurking in the background for as long as the Tottenham Hotspur rumours have been building up pace, and there was always a feeling that they could still strike even if they landed Anderson.

Marca believes that City will go over £95m in an attempt to land the 26-year-old, which is much closer to Newcastle's asking price than Spurs' initial £75m bid.

We're not convinced, but we are hopeful

This is very interesting as it suggests there could be a battle for his signature, which could only benefit Newcastle in terms of getting closer to their asking price.

That being said, we're taking this with a huge grain of salt. Why would the story be coming out of Spain? It's about an Italian player going from one English club to another.

There have also been some reports that Spurs are ready to offer Tonali an astronomical contract that others aren't likely to come close to. Manchester City may be more keen than their United counterparts or Arsenal, but we're not convinced as yet.

We hope it's true, though, just because if there are two clubs fighting, Newcastle will get paid what they're asking.
