Tino Livramento suffers nightmare injury to end his World Cup early - Report

Well, who didn't see this one coming? Newcastle United's Tino Livramento's World Cup dream is over before it has begun.

When the England squad was announced, there was a lot of confusion, particularly from Newcastle fans, over why Lewis Hall was not included in the squad.

It was made all the more strange when Tino Livramento was called up. Not that we don't feel that he's good enough, but Hall was fit; Livramento was not.

The gamble from Thomas Tuchel now appears to have backfired, as reports from the England camp claim that the right-back has picked up an injury and will fly home from the USA before England have even played their first game.

He's coming home, He's coming home, Tino's coming home!

The Telegraph broke the story initially, claiming it was a hamstring injury, but since then, Craig Hope, who is based around the England camp, has confirmed it to be a calf injury.

Recovery is expected to take weeks, and therefore there would be no point keeping Tino around for the tournament as he will not be fit to play.

Hope also claims that Lewis Hall will not be called up to replace him, so he looks set to miss out again. Bizarrely, The Telegraph is claiming that Trevoh Chalobah, the Chelsea centre-back, is in line to replace him.

What must Hall be thinking at this point?

And then there was one...

This is likely to put an end to any talk of a Tino Livramento transfer, though. No top sides are going to want to take a chance on someone so prone to injury until he's proven himself to be able to stay fit.

Newcastle had three players in the England squad when it was announced, and that is now down to one. Anthony Gordon was a Newcastle player when he was called up, but by the time he landed in Florida he was a Barcelona player.

Tino Livramento's exit now leaves just Dan Burn from the Toon in Tuchel's squad. It's a sickening blow for Tino, but this is what happens when you take an injury-prone player who isn't fully fit.

Trevoh Chalobah can fill in at right back, to be fair, but has he had a season as good as Lewis Hall's? I mean, come on!
