Tino Livramento to Man City in doubt? - Sky Sports reveal new right-back option
There could be some hope for Newcastle United yet when it comes to holding on to Tino Livramento this summer.
While there has been nothing concrete, Manchester City's interest in right-back Tino Livramento, combined with the 23-year-old stalling on contract talks with Newcastle, has had us feeling that the writing is on the wall for the England star.
Since pretty much the turn of the year, we've been resigned to the fact that Newcastle will not be able to hold on to Livramento in the summer.
It's a known fact that Newcastle need to sell players to raise funds for a summer rebuild, and Livramento to City feels like a goalline tap-in as long as we can bring in the right money for him.
Man City have a new right-back target
We have also held a little bit of belief that the main reason Tino has postponed contract talks is that he wants to prove himself further in order to get a better deal. Getting selected for the World Cup squad and having the likes of Man City chasing him will put him in a very strong position to negotiate.
Now we've been given another sliver of hope from Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, who claims that Man City are now in the race for 19-year-old Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read.
Again, there's nothing concrete here, but it does suggest that City aren't putting all their eggs in the Livramento basket.
We've got our fingers crossed that we keep Tino
We'd be naive to think that Man City aren't potentially looking at signing Read and Tino, especially as the Dutchman is only 19 and may not be ready for the Premier League right away.
City needs to bring in as many players as they can while they can, just in case anything happens with these 115 charges that we're sure they're hoping we'll all forget about.
We're going to keep our fingers crossed that we can keep hold of Tino and that his recent form has put Man City off somewhat. Tino, Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley should be who we are building our team around if possible. But we also concede that we will need to sell someone of significant value in the summer.
