Newcastle linked with top Serie A star - Unlikely swap deal on the table?
Italian media is reporting that Newcastle are amongst a number of clubs linked with one of the Serie A’s most talked about strikers.
With Callum Wilson set to depart in the summer, fresh legs and players with European experience will no doubt be high on our transfer list next year.
And if this report is to be believed, we could be looking to snatch one of the continent’s most prolific players over the last few years at a cut price fee.
Juventus star could jump ship
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato and FourFourTwo, Juventus are looking to offload Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic as they aim to raise money for other future transfers.
The Italian giants are planning to entirely clear out their attacking department, with the club and Vlahovic both reportedly keen to move on this summer.
Because of this, Juventus may be looking to exploit interest from England and offload the 25-year-old in the upcoming window.
Who else is linked with Vlahovic?
Manchester United look to be the most likely destination for Vlahovic, owing to their recent injury to Joshua Zirkzee and the poor form of Rasmus Hojlund.
In addition to the Red Devils, both ourselves and Barcelona have been linked with a move for the former Fiorentina ace: not the first time in recent weeks that we have been touted as a future home for him.
Although there’s little chance of Alexander Isak being displaced as our main striker barring an astronomical fee coming in, the demands of European football do warrant another attacking option being brought in.
Juventus wanting a questionable trade?
Calciomercato poses the idea that Vlahovic can be used a potential “bargaining chip” in any negotiations with us, as Juventus have been reportedly interested in bringing Sandro Tonali back to his home country over the past few weeks.
With just how impressive Tonali has been this season, coupled with how integral he’s been to our recent success, any idea of move should be immediately rejected by the club.
Plus, Vlahovic’s cut-price fee (estimated to be around €30m) and Juventus’ own desire to sell should come as an immediate red flag in negotiations for a striker with less than 10 goals in the Serie A this season.
