Sean Longstaff lined up for Premier League move?
Incomings will be the biggest talking point this summer, and rightly so after we've waited several windows to see a flurry of first-team additions.
However, although we are not under pressure to sell and are now in a far healthier PSR position, we'll be looking to sell wisely and trim down parts of Eddie Howe's squad to make room for new arrivals.
One man who could well be moved on is Sean Longstaff, who is not only struggling for game time but entering the last year of his contract at the club.
Familiar link resurfaces
According to a new report this week, Leeds United could make a summer move for Sean Longstaff now their promotion back to the Premier League has been confirmed.
In his latest piece for The i on Leeds' plans to expand Elland Road, Northern correspondent Mark Douglas reveals that the Geordie midfielder is on their radar heading into the transfer window.
Longstaff has made 170 appearances at Premier League level and was a regular under Eddie Howe prior to Sandro Tonali's return from a gambling ban.
However, he's entering the final 12 months of his contract on Tyneside and has struggled for game time over the second half of 2024/25.
The 27-year-old hasn't started a single league game since the turn of the year and has also been leapfrogged in the pecking order by Lewis Miley, who will need game time next season to maintain his development.
An ideal move?
Not only does this summer feel like the right time for Longstaff to depart, Leeds could be a smart move for a few reasons.
He'd get regular starts in the Premier League once again and he'd also remain relatively close to home in Newcastle, with Leeds the most Northern top flight side south of Tyneside.
Whether Leeds do up their interest and make a formal move remains to be seen - Everton have also been linked - but it may be a good move for all parties and could be one to watch as we edge closer to the summer.
