Fabrizio Romano angers Newcastle fans as he announces Martin Dubravka move

It hasn't been a good week for Fabrizio Romano as far as Newcastle United is concerned.

The Italian transfer journalist was involved in a social media spat with Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards earlier this week after Edwards called out Romano for his not-so-subtle reporting playbook, designed to unsettle players.

After Romano fired back at Edwards, the Telegraph scribe slammed the Italian for his coverage of Newcastle United, pointing out how nobody at the club will speak to him due to his grift.

That seems to have struck a nerve, as today, Romano put out a trademark 'Here we go' post on X announcing that former Toon keeper Martin Dubravka is set to join Tottenham Hotspur, but there was something a bit odd about how he chose to report it.

The 'ex-Burnley and Man United goalkeeper'

Martin Dubravka spent seven years on Tyneside, with a brief four-month stint away at Manchester United, where he made one appearance. However, as Romano announced the news via X today, he referred to Dubravka as the ex-Burnley and Manchester United player.

Naturally, Newcastle fans were quick to pick up on this, with several reposting it and pointing out Romano's omission.

Dubravka is leaving Burnley at the end of the month after his contract has expired and will join Tottenham, who are ready to sell Guglielmo Vicario. So we have no problem with Burnley getting a mention, but Romano's beloved Man United, where he spent four months? Give over, mate.

Was it out of spite or is he just that unprofessional?

It just adds more fuel to the fire that Romano's only concern is the 'Big Six ', who many theorise pay the Italian to spin stories for them, although we can't say we've got any evidence for this.

While we can't speak for whether he's taking payments, we can say that this very much backs up every claim that Fabrizio Romano has an agenda against Newcastle.

Whether it was out of spite for Luke Edwards having a go the other day or what, the fact that he'd leave out the name of the club Dubravka spent seven years of his career at just shows the measure of the man.
