How Yasir Al Rumayyan feels about Eddie Howe ahead of crunch meeting - Report
Yasir Al Rumayyan is due in Newcastle next week for the annual review, and Eddie Howe is expected to be in attendance to discuss Newcastle United's performance this season.
It has been an odd campaign for Newcastle United, who acquitted themselves well in the Champions League, entering the round of 16 for the first time ever, albeit losing heavily to Barcelona.
The Magpies also reached another Carabao Cup semi-final, but fell at the fifth round of the FA Cup and have really struggled in the Premier League.
It's the league form that has caused a lot of people to question Eddie Howe's suitability for the role going forward, with calls for his removal getting louder with each defeat.
Newcastle face Arsenal on Saturday, which is a fixture that we could really do without right now, but the Gunners are suffering their usual end-of-season slump, so we could look to pile on that. Whatever happens at the Emirates, Eddie Howe is likely to have some big questions to answer at Matfen Hall next week.
Howe will not face a 'grilling' from the board
While it's not going to be the most comfortable conversation for the manager, Mark Douglas has claimed in the iPaper today that it won't be the 'grilling' many are hoping for.
The report claims that Yasir Al Rumayyan has a 'warm relationship' with Eddie Howe and is very happy with what the former Bournemouth man has achieved overall at Newcastle.
It's therefore sounding increasingly unlikely that Howe will be given the boot; instead, he will be asked to lead the rebuild and to come up with some new ideas to take the club forward.
As Mark Douglas says at the end of his piece: 'The smart money remains on Howe being in charge – but of a very different looking outfit come August.'
Newcastle could have a new look with Howe still at the helm
Newcastle are already changing up its approach to transfers after the failures of last season, now looking to find hidden gems from around the world who may not have the Premier League experience Newcastle has overly relied on of late, but may have what it takes to be a success in the English game.
Eddie Howe has also accepted that there could be scope to change up his coaching staff to bring in some new ideas.
We just hope that part of this change will see Eddie Howe working on some new tactics, maybe refresh his formation instead of sticking rigidly to 4-3-3.
