Newcastle's pursuit of Zadok Yohanna & Victor Munoz not yet advanced - Report
Newcastle United's transfer priority right now is finding a forward to replace Anthony Gordon.
Barcelona acted fast to take Anthony Gordon off Newcastle's hands, leaving a big gap in Eddie Howe's squad.
While primarily deployed as a left winger, Gordon's versatility allowed him to play as a centre-forward or on the right, if he felt like it, that is.
It's expected that Newcastle will be looking to recruit a replacement who can do the same, which brings to rumours of a €35m move for Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Newcastle also have an interest in AIK's highly-rated teenager Zadok Yohanna, although it seems claims of a £20.7m bid may be premature.
No formal bids for Munoz or Yohanna
Reports have claimed that Newcastle have made offers for both Munoz and Yohanna, but The Athletic's Chris Waugh claims this may not be the case.
In discussing these two options for Eddie Howe, Waugh has claimed that no formal bids have been made for either player as yet.
"No formal bids have been made for either yet, even if Newcastle have been discussing the potential financials involved to secure multiple prospective targets across several positions."
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has claimed that both Chelsea and Newcastle have had bids accepted for Yohanna.
Brighton are favourites to land Zadok Yohanna
The word 'formal' is key. Just because Newcastle has not made a formal bid, it doesn't mean that the offer reportedly on the table for Yohanna isn't real; it just means it's a proposal at this point.
It's being widely reported that Brighton is Yohanna's preferred destination anyway, so even if AIK are keen to do the deal with Newcastle, the player is likely to hang on until Brighton and AIK can agree a fee.
Waugh's report suggests that Munoz is preferred to Yohanna, anyway, so while we'd love to see Newcastle bag the 18-year-old for the future, Munoz is definitely a better option for right now, and that's where we need to be focusing this summer if we're being honest.
