Callum Wilson lands Premier League move after leaving West Ham

Former Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson will get another shot at the Premier League next season after agreeing a move to Brentford.

Callum Wilson was one of Newcastle's most prolific strikers since Alan Shearer left the club, but his Toon career was blighted by injury.

Wilson managed 47 goals in 113 games for the Magpies, which translates to a goals per game ratio of around 0.42.

Unfortunately, Wilson only started 37% of games during his time at Newcastle due to persistent injury problems, and while he was a popular figure on Tyneside, when his contract expired last summer, there was no new deal on the table.

Callum Wilson is set to join Brentford

Wilson moved to West Ham United, and while he almost made a break for it midway through the season, he stuck it out to the end but was unable to prevent the Hammers from being relegated.

As part of a clear-out, Wilson wasn't offered an extension on his one-year deal at the London club and has since been looking for a new team to join. There were rumours he could head to newly promoted Hull City, but that doesn't look to be the case.

It has been looking like Brentford were going to be the recipients of the 34-year-old's services, and that has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on X, who gave it his 'Here we go' stamp.

It's Wissa v Wilson in the scoring charts

It's almost a delayed swap with Yoane Wissa leaving Brentford for Newcastle last summer. It's going to be interesting next season to see which of the two strikers finishes higher on the scoring charts.

We've no doubt that Wilson will get Brentford goals next season, but the big question will be how often he plays. Not just because of his injury record, but he's likely to be behind Igor Thiago in the pecking order if the Bees can keep hold of the Brazilian.

Good luck to Callum Wilson at his new club. Again, as with all of our former stars, just don't come back to haunt us. Cheers.
