Lamine Camara eyeing Newcastle move as Toon target ‘multiple deals’ - Report

Newcastle United are working hard to bring players in for Eddie Howe this summer after making some big sales.

It was being reported as the transfer window neared that Newcastle didn't have much of a war chest with which to attack this window, so sales would be needed. This came as bad news to fans who could clearly see the need for many signings this summer.

Those sales have now been made with Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali heading out of the club for a combined £170 million, and with that business done, attention has now turned to incomings.

Bazoumana Toure has landed on Tyneside to undergo his medical and finalise his move from Hoffenheim, while the Magpies work on two other deals in the background.

Newcastle are confident on Manzambi and Camara

In the early hours of Friday morning, 20-year-old Johan Manzambi was adding digits to his asking price by helping Switzerland progress to the World Cup Round of 16 by adding another goal contribution to his tally.

Meanwhile, Monaco's Lamine Camara will have been packing to come home after Senegal were dumped out of the competition on Wednesday.

Camara has been a longstanding target for Newcastle, and iNews is reporting that the 22-year-old is keen on the move to St James' Park.

That same report also claims Newcastle were confident on Manzambi, but there's now a panic amongst fans that the deal will be hijacked after his exploits against Algeria.

The Septic Six might let us have Manzambi as a litmus test

Bazouman Toure looks like everything is getting close, but there's still a way to go for Camara and Manzambi.

We do share the fear that someone could come in and hijack our move for Johan Manzambi. The lad has been absolutely outstanding for Switzerland at the World Cup, and there's no way Newcastle are going to be allowed a free hit on such a talented player.

What we are banking on is that he may be too young for some of the big hitters to make a move for right now. They may prefer to see him move to Newcastle to see how he handles the Premier League and pursue him at a later date, which could play into Newcastle's hands, as that is the transfer model we're now following.

Bringing in talented young players, developing them, cashing out at their peak and doing it again. Thanks to the financial restrictions, it's the best we can hope for now, but the more we do it, the more we build up our coffers, and as we do that while expanding our revenues, we close the gap to that septic six.
