RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa asking price revealed with Newcastle watching on
Newcastle United still haven't made any further moves to replace Anthony Gordon after missing out on Victor Munoz to Liverpool.
There will have been plenty going on behind the scenes, at least we'd like to think so, but as yet, nothing has made it to the media regarding a rock-solid bid for any players on the shortlist.
The Magpies are thought to be looking at Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Said El Mala, but they won't be the only options on the table, which is good because Liverpool is also thought to be eyeing those two players, too.
At this point, we're convinced that Liverpool just waits for us to be linked with a player and then goes after them. Why employ scouts when you can just steal our homework?
Antonio Nusa could be one to watch for Newcastle
Another left-sided winger Newcastle has scouted recently is RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa, who is starring for an impressive-looking Norway at the World Cup.
While the Magpies have scouted Nusa, there haven't been many solid links as yet, but as The Chronicle has reported, RB Leipzig seems keen to cash in on the 21-year-old this summer, with a price tag of £41 million mooted.
Nusa has a lot of qualities that Newcastle will love, although he is still quite raw. He will be experienced enough to go into the starting lineup for Newcastle, but he may not be up to the level of Anthony Gordon for a while - that's Gordon on a good day. I'm at the level of Anthony Gordon in some of our games last season, and I'm grossly overweight with dodgy knees.
Antonio Nusa has plenty of admirers
If, as The Chronicle reports, Leipzig has reduced their asking price, it means they must be keen for a sale. Antonio Nusa may not be at the top of the list for Newcastle, but in terms of ease of getting a deal done, he could be high on that list.
Juventus, Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Crystal Palace are all keen on Nusa, so he's obviously got something about him.
He has shown his pace several times already at the World Cup, and we do love a pacey winger. Of course, doing something useful after using that pace is where our wingers have failed lately, so if Nusa can't get a good ball into the box, then maybe we should look elsewhere. Let's keep an eye on him at the World Cup and see what we're dealing with.
