Newcastle United’s 2026/27 home kit goes on sale with no sponsor

Wednesday morning saw the launch of the new Newcastle United home kit along with a few new additions.

Newcastle fans have known the design of the new shirt for a while now, and it's safe to say that it's certainly one of the less popular designs in recent memory.

The 'barcode' design has gone down like a lead balloon amongst the fans, but now people are able to finally get up close and personal with the top to see the finer details.

The kit went on sale at 8am this morning, and did so with no front-of-shirt sponsor as the club has yet to find a replacement for Saudi-based events company Sela. The lack of sponsor could make these early shirts somewhat of a collector's item, which could spur some fans on to buy the top early, regardless of their feelings on the design. The other risk is, of course, that many fans may wait until the sponsor is added.

Regardless of fans' feelings on the design itself, the shirt will no doubt sell well as they always do.

What have Adidas done with their stripes?

The kits are on the website now, retailing for £85 for a replica and £120 for the authentic shirt; it's a big commitment for fans, especially those who aren't keen on the aesthetic.

The stripes are the main sticking point for most fans, with many preferring a more traditional look with uniform thickness, but for me personally, it's the new Adidas trim with the thicker three stripes that I find the most offensive. I'm also not that big a fan of the blue, but if the stripes were the same thickness as previous shirts, I could probably deal with it.

There is a pattern in the shirt that's hard to make out on the website, as well as a Magpie on the neck where last year's shirt had "Howay The Lads".

Two goalkeeper jerseys were dropped too: a bright yellow and a bright orange one. Both are fairly inoffensive when compared to the outfield kit.

The new stadium wear is elite

As well as the kits, though, some stadium wear was also launched, and this is where things look considerably better in my opinion.

The new stadium wear with the diamond motif looks amazing and harks back to the 90s in the best way.

Also, the more toned-down pre-match warm-up tops, which are several shades of blue broken up with an overlapping box pattern, look really nice too.

These new home kits are a big risk by Adidas and feel like a huge test of fan loyalty as we look to see how many people still buy the shirt despite the overwhelmingly negative feedback.
